Craig Freeman, Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Craig, currently the co-Managing Partner of Vista Analytics, has focused his entire professional career on the design, implementation, and support of various litigation technologies. Craig has had several notable endeavors in his management career: first, as the CEO of Amici LLC, he transformed a less than $10M revenue company into a $174M business in less than 4 years (Xerox purchased Amici in an all cash deal in 2006). Second, Craig led Deloitte Consulting’s discovery practice into a nine figure revenue business with over 600 consultants. While at Deloitte, he also served as the co-lead for the company’s Analytics Institute (an R&D organization comprised of Artificial Intelligence Ph.Ds). Third, Craig was a Managing Director and Global Practice Leader at Navigant Consulting, Inc., where his principal focus was litigation discovery. There, he focused on discovery organization and analyses, data analytics, computer forensics, and cyber technology.

Overall, Craig’s experience spans a multitude of management endeavors along with specific services and technologies such as text retrieval, imaging systems, large database systems, and work flow efficiencies.

Michael Faraci, Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Michael Faraci is a co-founder and Managing Partner of Vista Analytics. His main area of expertise is litigation discovery with a focus on strategy surrounding collection, review, and production of complex electronic data. His experience in the information technology industry includes systems engineering, data analytics, application development, configuration and release management, and relational database development.

Michael is often engaged as a technical expert to assess a company’s IT systems and retention policies as they relate to current or pending litigation. He has been named as clients’ 30(b)(6) expert on several engagements. He has been in front of the DOJ, SEC and FBI to explain and defend the processes used to obtain and review data for production. Michael also has deep experience in large scale data analytics projects. His experience deploying and modifying complex ERP systems e.g. Oracle Financials & SAP, gives him the skill set to help clients determine how to best understand and extract large and complex data sets for analysis.

Michael’s experience includes work on many of the highest profile regulatory investigations in the world. His clients have included numerous Fortune 500 companies spanning the financial services, telecommunications, media, defense and manufacturing industries. On these engagements he has led teams in securing data in a forensically defensible manner and has worked with his clients to develop efficient solutions to review the potentially responsive data sets. These engagements regularly involve the review and production of millions of documents.

Yihua Shi Astle is a data professional with experience across a variety of industries including finance, media, and market research. She is passionate about using data science to deliver actionable insights and guiding businesses to make intelligent decisions.

Xuning (Michael) Tang

Dr. Xuning (Michael) Tang is a partner of Vista Analytics. He helps Vista Analytics to build a variety of advanced analytics solutions using machine learning, natural language processing, network analysis, and AWS cloud computing.

Before joining Vista Analytics, he was an economist in Fannie Mae and worked on fraud detection solutions. Before Fannie Mae, he was a manager in Deloitte Advisory where he contributed to multiple advanced analytics projects related to anomaly detection, eDiscovery,and predictive modelling. Michael also worked for Siemens Corporate Research in the area of semantic-based knowledge management.

Michael obtained his Ph.D. from Drexel University in the College of Computing and Informatics in 2013. He filed one patent, two inventions and published more than 30 peer-reviewed research papers in top computer science journals and international conferences such as IEEE and ACM Transactions, International Journal of Electronic Commerce, JASIST, ACM CIKM, and etc. He also served as associate editor or reviewer for multiple flagship journals in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. His research is motivated by the knowledge management needs of information processing, which require rapidly transferring social media data into information and knowledge. His research interests include text mining, social computing, social network analysis and machine learning.
